Provincial Nominee Program Draws Recently Announced
Provinces in Canada recently conducted their draws for their provincial nominee programs (PNP), extending invitations for nomination to qualified candidates. Over the past week, British Columbia (B.C.), Quebec, and Alberta have each held their unique draws to attract skilled immigrants tailored to meet local labor market challenges and demographic needs. It’s important to highlight that, with the exception of Nunavut and Quebec – which has its own arrangement for selecting economic-class immigrants – most Canadian provinces and territories utilize Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) as part of a collaborative immigration effort with the federal government.
The latest round of invitations from May 25 to May 31 brought encouraging news for candidates in various sectors. B.C.’s draws, conducted through the British Columbia PNP (BCPNP), favored skilled workers, international graduates, and entry-level and semi-skilled workers across five streams. Scores required to receive an invitation ranged between 80 and 131, with targeted invitations for childcare, construction, healthcare, and veterinary care occupations.
Quebec divulged results from its own selection process on April 25 – results based on a draw dating back to April 22. Prospective immigrants to Quebec were invited based on their proficiency in French, with a required level of 7 or higher on the Quebec scale for adult immigrants and a minimum score of 598 points. Recipients of invitations from Quebec can now proceed with applying for a Quebec Selection Certificate, a prerequisite for permanent residence.
Meanwhile, Alberta shared outcomes from its May 1 draw under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). Forty candidates received Notification of Interest (NOI) letters, specifically recognized under the province’s healthcare pathway with an Alberta job offer, all boasting CRS scores of at least 305.
