Manitoba’s Recent Provincial Draw Extends Invitations to Skilled Workers
Manitoba conducted its second immigration draw of August this week, providing invitations to skilled workers through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). The province issued invitations based on criteria such as work experience, scoring outcomes, and participation in targeted recruitment efforts. This draw marks the 17th provincial immigration draw for the year.
On August 21, the MPNP executed a draw under the Skilled Worker Stream, which comprises two distinct pathways: Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas. A total of 77 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) were distributed, with 18 of those going to foreign applicants who had a valid Express Entry profile number along with a job seeker validation code. The lowest score among the candidates in the Expression of Interest Draw (EOI) #252 was recorded at 612.
The specifics of the draw were as follows:
– Stream: Skilled Worker Stream
– LAAs Issued: 77
– Cut-off Score: 612
Only those candidates who could confirm that they had been directly invited by the MPNP under a targeted recruitment initiative were awarded invitations. The current draw included LAAs issued through various strategic recruitment initiatives:
– Employer Services: 6 LAAs
– Francophone Community: 29 LAAs
– Regional Communities: 31 LAAs
– Ethnocultural Communities: 11 LAAs
The MPNP has noted that candidates who met or exceeded the cut-off score but did not receive an LAA may have faced issues such as failing to enter a valid test number from a recognized language test or using expired test results. Additionally, those who claimed an invitation through a strategic recruitment initiative but did not provide a valid invitation number in their EOI were also excluded.
What are strategic recruitment initiatives? They are targeted efforts carried out by employers or community groups aimed at assisting Manitoba in identifying and inviting skilled candidates whose skills are in high demand and short supply in the province. These initiatives allow local employers to meet long-standing workforce needs while simultaneously enabling qualified foreign national candidates to achieve permanent resident status in Canada. To participate, employers must meet specific eligibility criteria for their job vacancies and complete Manitoba’s ABC Recruitment Process. Upon approval, they are allowed to submit candidate information to Manitoba’s Employer Services.
Conclusion
In summary, Manitoba’s latest provincial draw underscores the province’s commitment to attracting skilled workers through strategic recruitment initiatives. With the right qualifications and eligibility, foreign nationals can seize the opportunity to obtain permanent residence in Canada. Aspiring applicants should stay informed about future draws and ensure their profiles are complete and compliant to improve their chances of receiving an invitation.
