Stuck in the Express Entry Pool?
What is Express Entry?
Express Entry (EE) is an online immigration application system that allows individuals to submit a profile and potentially be considered a skilled immigrant by Canada. Candidates with the highest rankings are invited to apply for permanent residency in Canada. In the Express Entry pool applicants are scored and given points based on factors that include:
* Education;
* Language Skills (English or French) and
* Work Experience
I entered the system but I am stuck in the pool!
If you submitted an Express Entry profile, you may know that if you do not receive an invitation to apply for permanent residency within 12 months, your profile expires.
Here are a few scenarios of individuals we have come across:
Stacy K. has 348 points and has been in the pool for 7 months. She is concerned that she won’t receive an invitation to apply for permanent residency.
Brenda K. and her husband have 417 points and have been in the pool for 10 months, she is concerned that her profile will expire without receiving an invitation.
What can I do?
If you are in the pool and have not been offered an invitation to apply, here is what you can do:
1) Develop a strategy immediately to improve your points, this can include securing a valid job offer or improving your education
2) Be ready to implement 2 or 3 alternatives if your initial plan does not work
3) Don’t allow your profile to languish for months, set a deadline for when you plan to take action
It is easy to enter the pool, however you want to ensure that you exit the pool with an invitation to apply it is best to take action soon.
