Fund your studies
Studying in Canada is an exciting and rewarding experience for many students from all over the world. Canada has one of the top-ranked education systems and one of the lowest education costs in the world.
Students continually ask us how they can best fund their studies. In light of this, we are sharing our list of three creative ways to help you to fund your studies:
Loyalty Points
1) Loyalty Points: Two popular loyalty programs in Canada: Aeroplan (https://www3.aeroplan.com/home.do) and TD Bank Rewards (https://www.tdrewards.com/) offer their users the option of redeeming their points at several universities and colleges. Your friends and family in Canada can collect points on their TD Credit Card (https://www.tdrewards.com/) (for example) for activities that include travelling, shopping and purchasing gas. Points can then be redeemed in $250 dollar increments and these amounts can be transferred to your student account at your university or college.
Participating institutions include:
* The University of British Columbia
* University of Waterloo
* University of Toronto
* Centennial College
* Sheridan College
* New Brunswick Community College

Crowdfunding
2) Crowdfunding: Crowdfunding sites including gofundme (https://www.gofundme.com/) allow persons to raise money from a large number of people in small amounts typically through social media. Some students have been able to raise upwards of $50,000 CAD for their tuition.
Essay Contests
3) Essay Contests: Organizations worldwide hold contests and competitions for students and many offer substantial prize money to those who win. These contests and competitions are free to enter. An example is the Optimist International Essay Contest (https://www.optimist.org/documents/programs/2019/Scholarship_Flyer_2018_2019.pdf) . Here students educated in Canada or the Caribbean can submit a 700- to 800-word essay around a central idea. The winner receives a $2,500 USD scholarship.
Overall, finding the financial resources to study in Canada may appear to be daunting or impossible at first, however with a bit of planning and research, students can utilize creative and inventive ways to fund their studies in Canada.
