Do You Want To Study In Canada?
If you want to study in Canada, you will want to find the best school for you. Here are four things you should consider when looking for a college or university in Canada:
1) Affordability:
A good college or university in Canada should be one that you can afford to study. When you conduct your research, ensure that you are not only looking at the base tuition, but also any other incidentals including health care and student union fees. These extra costs can increase your overall tuition fees.
2) Class sizes:
Each university or college in Canada varies in terms of their average class size. The larger the school, the wider the variety of majors you can choose from. Some schools will have class sizes as large as 400 students and some as small as 10 students. It is important to know that the smaller the class size, the higher the graduation rate. Be sure to ask about average class sizes for the courses you are taking.
3) Graduation Rates:
Almost all universities and colleges will have a career centre that assists graduates with finding employment after graduation. Be certain to ask about the percentage of students who have found employment within six (6) months of graduating. This will give you an idea of your chances of finding employment after you graduate. The best schools have a graduation rate of 70% or higher.
4) Accredited Programs:
There are specific professions that require a professional licence, these include engineering, teaching and nursing. It is important to know if your school of choice is affiliated with the provincial licencing bodies so that there is a possibility that you can take the licencing exam after you graduate.
