Atlantic Immigration Pilot
In July 2016, Atlantic Canada announced a pilot programme that would bring 2,000 skilled workers to the region. We are pleased to tell you that more details have been released about this innovative programme. Under the Atlantic Immigration Pilot, and a first of its kind, new immigrants will arrive in Atlantic Canada with a job offer and an individualized settlement plan for them and their family.
How it will work
Starting in early March, 2017, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada will start accepting permanent resident applications for the Atlantic Immigration Pilot programs. Under this Pilot, every principal applicant will come to Atlantic Canada with a job offer and an individualized settlement plan for themself and their family. A total of up to 2, 000 applications, which include the skilled worker and any family member coming with them, will be accepted for these programs.
After accepting the job, the employer will connect the skilled immigrant with a designated settlement service provider organization to develop a settlement plan. Employers will also support the integration of the newcomer and their family into the community once they arrive in Canada.
