How to Apply
- Choose your program — Search for programs on the Campus China portal or directly on university websites. Popular universities for international students include Tsinghua, Peking, Fudan, Zhejiang, and Shanghai Jiao Tong.
- Apply for scholarships — The Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC) is the most comprehensive, covering tuition, accommodation, living stipend, and medical insurance. Applications typically open in January and close in April.
- Gather required documents — You will typically need academic transcripts, a physical examination form (Foreigner Physical Examination Form), passport photos, and language proficiency evidence (HSK for Mandarin programs, IELTS/TOEFL for English programs).
- Apply for a student visa (X1 or X2) — After receiving your admission letter and JW201/JW202 form from the university, apply for a student visa at the Chinese embassy or consulate in your country.
- Register upon arrival — Register with local police within 24 hours of arrival and complete university registration during the enrollment period.
